Randall Lamar Mason

September 5, 1948 - August 20, 2000

Randall Lamar Mason died of heart failure Monday, August 20, 2000 while cruising the Caribbean with his family.

Born in Salina, UT Sept 5, 1948 to Noreen and Gayland Mason. He graduated from Skyline High School in 1966.  He served a mission for the LDS church in Germany. He graduated from the University of Utah with a BA in German and Political Science and a certificate in International Relations in 1972. He graduated from the University of Utah Law School in 1975. Randy was a partner in a successful law firm in San Diego, CA.

Randy gave many years of service to his country and to his church. He met his bride, Brenda, during boot camp in 1971 and they were married in the Salt Lake Temple that same year. Randy served his church as a bishop, high counselor, and temple worker. His service to his country began in 1966 in the Utah National Guard. In 1975, he transferred to the US Army Reserves. In November 1999, he was promoted to Brigadier General. Randy felt his greatest joy came from being a father and a husband.

Survived by his wife, Brenda Howard Mason, La Mesa, CA: sons, Russell (Marie), Scott, Bryan, Brandon: daughters, Marshell, Shannon; parents, Gayland and Noreen Mason, Sandy, UT; and sisters, Vickie (Steven Gatherum), Kris (Craig Brown), Sheila (Steven Wall), Gayleen (Glen Williams).

Religious services will be Mon. Aug. 28, in La Mesa, CA. Randy will be buried Tues. in Rosecrans Federal Cemetary in Point Loma, CA.
