Obituary: SUTHERLAND, ROGER

Roger Allen Sutherland 1948 ~ 2009
Roger Allen Sutherland passed away on May 2, 2009, surrounded by love, after a valiant fight against Cancer. He was 60 years of age. Roger is survived by his loving wife, Bonnie; his sons, Justin and C.J.; his daughters, Jenifer and Casey. Also survived by his step-sons, Matt and Jerry; his daughters-in-law, Dawn, Andrea and Cindy; sons-in-law, Jake and Corey; and 11 grandchildren.

Roger was born on July 5, 1948 in Murray, Utah, to beaming parents Calvin Leo Sutherland and Stella Rowene Harding; both preceding him in death. His life was shared with his older brother Brad, who preceded him in death; older sister, Diane and younger brother, Kelly.

Roger, a born entrepreneur, leader and mentor, started several successful businesses throughout his professional career, before launching Sutherland Title Company, one of Salt Lake City's leading Real Estate Title and Escrow firms. His subtle confidence and unwavering humility drew a true honor and a firm respect.

Roger had an unmatched enthusiasm for life and he inspired everyone who knew him. All were welcomed with a classic handshake or a big hug, a strong gaze and a genuine greeting, "Hey dude!"

He loved nothing more than to entertain his family, his children and his grandchildren at his home on the weekends and holidays. Traveling with his wife Bonnie, they honed their golf game together in Hawaii or they were off to Las Vegas for their next adventure.

Roger was the consummate outdoorsman. He was happiest camping and hunting with all of his friends and family in and around "more than beautiful" Hatch, Utah, where he was able to spend his final days.

A special thank you to Tad and Melaney Draper of Beaver Valley Hospice and the staff at Intermountain Homecare.

We will honor Roger with a visitation on Thursday, May 7th from 6-8 p.m. at Larkin Sunset Gardens Mortuary, 1950 E. 10600 So., Sandy, where a celebration of his life will be held on Friday, May 8th at 11 a.m. with a visitation beginning at 10 a.m. Interment in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Roger's honor to the
