Martha Elizabeth Velick

Martha Elizabeth Velick, the much loved daughter of Bernadette S. and Sidney F. Velick, died November 20, 2000 in Salt Lake City. 

Martha was born in St. Louis, MO May 12, 1948. She moved with her parents and brother to Salt Lake in 1964. She graduated from Skyline High School and attended the University of Utah. 

Martha excelled in music, played piano and cello and was a member of the Stratford Trio before leaving St. Louis. She held jobs at University Hospital in the Social Services Dept. and at Valley Mental Health. Music and writing poetry were her avocations. Martha was a member of Alliance House. 

She is survived by her parents; brother, Dr. William F. Velick, and wife, Diana; niece, Christina Patow, Huntington Beach, CA; devoted aunt, Ann Stemler Langlitz, Indianola, WA; and cousins, Kathryn Sedwick, Redmond, WA, Christina Jones, Sacramento, CA, Lisa Stevens, Vancouver, WA, Gretchen Langlitz-Kennedy, Tampa, FL. 

The family wishes to thank the many devoted Mental Health professionals who have worked with Martha over the years and the loving care she received from the staff of Hillside Villa Rehabilitation Center. We also thank CNS Hospice for their special help. 

There will be a celebration of her life and what she taught us at All Saints Episcopal Church, 1710 S. Foothill Dr. Wednesday Nov 29, 4 p.m.
