C. Blaine Walsh

Husband-Dad-Grandpa

Our dear Dad and Grandpa left us on July 21, 2009, to be with his beautiful wife and grandson. Dad returned to be with Mom much sooner than any of us would have ever imagined. Even though she has only been gone a few short months, it felt like a lifetime to him.

His heart was truly broken.

Dad was born on January 17, 1948, to Morris and Dorothy Walsh. He was one of two children (sister Ruth Meyer). Dad had a love for sports. He was a great athlete and spent many years coaching football and softball. After serving a short time in the military he met the love of his life, Beth "Kathy" Dilley. Dad always said he knew what he wanted and he found it in Mom. He thought she was a knock out and always looked like a million bucks. They married on July 6, 1968.

After marrying Mom, Dad signed on with the Salt Lake County Sheriff's Department. In 1975 he joined the Salt Lake County Fire Department (Unified Fire), where he was currently employed. He loved his job and was a dedicated firefighter for 34 years. He was always the man driving the big red truck. Dad always loved airplanes and worked part time for Skywest Airlines for the last 20 years. He loved working at the airport and enjoyed the people he worked with. Dad was always such a hard worker.

Dad was the father of four children, Amy, Adie, Aarin and Andrew. He adored them all and took great pride in telling everyone about their accomplishments. He was always their biggest supporter, and certainly always the loudest. Dad loved camping and boating. We often headed out in the middle of the night not knowing where we would be when we woke up. To most dad seemed rough around the edges, but to us he was a giant teddy bear. Everyone that really knew him would agree. Dad would drop anything to help someone or make sure they had what they needed, even if it was the shirt off his back or money he needed for something else. He was the one everyone turned to when they were in a bind. With his smooth talking and his many connections, he could surely get you out of anything. He was a prankster no doubt, and loved getting away with anything he could with his family, and especially at the fire station. He had a crazy sense of humor.

He was a regular for many years at Cummings Chocolates and Leslie's French Pastries. They both contributed to his amazing figure.....

When Dad became a Grandpa his whole outlook on life changed. He lived for his Grandkids and did anything he could to be with them. He literally spoiled them rotten. They loved spending time with him and going along on his shopping sprees. He always wandered the stores looking for a deal on something he didn't need, but they knew if they held out long enough there would be something in it for them. He made all their soccer and t-ball games, and even as a Grandpa, he was the loudest one cheering them on. His grandsons were his best buddies and his granddaughters were his sweet little princesses. They will miss him so very much.

Blaine leaves behind his children Amy, Adie, Aarin Schmaltz (Russ), Andrew (Nikki) and five grandkids, Tyler, Ethan, Rylee, Maggie and Olivia. Preceded in death by wife Kathy, Grandson Alan, his parents and sister.

He will also be missed dearly by other extended family and friends. We love you Dad! You will forever be missed. Give mom a kiss for us.
