Susan "Susie" Fry Raemer
Salt Lake Tribune, The (UT) — Thursday, September 28, 1995
Our beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt and special friend, Susan Fry Raemer passed away on September 26, 1995 after an unprecedented thirteen year battle with cancer (Multiple Myeloma). She was diagnosed in 1982 and in 1990 underwent bone marrow transplant in Seattle with subsequent treatments at the U of U Medical Center. We would like to thank all the wonderful doctors and nurses who cared for Susie through the years.

Susie was born on July 6, 1948 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Jay Stanley and Beverly Fry. She married John Raemer on July 13, 1967 in Salt Lake City. Susie was a Development Officer for the U of U Marriott Library for 20 years and co-founded the U of U Ski Archives. She was a member of the Alf Engen Ski School, where she taught skiing for 18 years. Susie lived for her family and enjoyed years of fun at Bear Lake and Lake Powell with her family and close friends.

Susie is survived by her husband, John, sons, Christopher and Corey; parents, sister, Robyn Archer (Frank), brother, Michael Fry (Lori), nieces, Stephanie, Alexandra, Miranda and her many many close friends.

Special thanks to her family for their undying support and her many special friends for whom without she would not have "made it". Susie was a true hero!

Donations can be made to the Make A Wish Foundation or the U of U Ski Archives.

A celebration of Susie's life will be held Friday, September 29, 1995, where all friends and relatives may visit between 2:00 and 4:30 p.m. at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 10600 South 1700 East in Sandy, Utah.

Susie was an amazing athlete. I have wonderful memories of times spent with friends and her family at Bear Lake. She taught me how to water ski, with a lot of patience.

Sue taught me to water ski at Bear Lake too! And her dad (ski legend Stan Fry) gave me my first ski lessons--

Sue Fry Raemer and I chatted in a department store shortly before she died of cancer. Tired and exhausted from the intense treatments, she admitted she would not live much longer.  She was sad that she could not continue to ski with her husband John Raemer and her family. She did not want to be a burden to anyone. She told me she had fought as courageously as she could, but her options soon narrowed. Sue was a true friend to each of us.
