Leon Pulsipher

December 27, 1947 - January 25, 1970

Leon Pulsipher was born  December 27, 1947 to Howard Stewart and Gwen Leavitt Pulsipher.  Leon's family lived in the Highland Park area before moving to Canyon Rim, where Leon attended Skyline High School and graduated in 1966.

Leon was nicknamed "The Moose," by his neighborhood friends, who could not stop his 6' 4" frame once he started running during their friendly games of football.  Leon enjoyed water skiing and roller skating at his family's business, New Ideal Beach, Bear Lake.  He also enjoyed many board games.

Leon served a mission for the LDS Church in the California North Mission from 1967-1969.  He baptized 95 new members during the two years that he served.

Leon married his sweetheart, Marilyn Monson, in the Salt Lake Temple on February 14, 1969.  Shortly after their marriage, Leon was diagnosed with cancer.  He began chemotherapy, and concurrently enrolled at Westminster College to further his education.  He was also serving as the secretary of his ward's Young Men's Organization.  Leon succomed to cancer on January 25, 1970.

At the time of his passing, he was survived by his wife, parents, and three brothers, Errol, Bryan, and Darron Pulsipher.  Bryan remembers Leon as a wonderful older brother.  He remarked, "When Leon was old enough to drive, he would end his school day at Skyline, and head for Evergreen Junior High to pick me up and take me safely home. Leon would often take me for drives around our neighborhood, which I enjoyed.  I admired him greatly."
