JoAnne Steorts Parks

ROUNDUP, Montana-- JoAnne Steorts Parks, 47, formerly of Salt Lake City, passed away peacefully at her home March 20, 1996, surrounded by her loving family following a courageous and graceful battle with cancer.
She was born July 21, 1948 in Salt Lake City, the daughter of Bob and Betty Jo Steorts. Joanne grew up and attended schools in Salt Lake City and Weber Stake College, Ogden. At college she met the love of her life, Clarence Parks, whom she married on July 1, 1967. They moved to Billings, Montana in June 1974 where they raised their two daughters. In March 1992 they moved to their large ranch east of Roundup. It was here JoAnne found the peace and tranquility she had dreamed of all her life.

JoAnne loved picnics and taking long walks on the ranch, spending endless weekends playing card games with her family, and countless hours watching cattle. She always loved summer rains and the beauty of a snow storm. JoAnne especially loved surrounding herself with family and friends, and she cherished every moment with her three young grandchildren. She always felt her greatest achievements were her marriage, daughters, and sons-in-law whom she loved dearly.

JoAnne is survived by her husband, Clarence; daughters, Teri Hice (Keith), and Angie Fawcett (Mike), Roundup, Montana; grandchildren, Justine and Seth Hice, Garret Fawcett; mother and stepfather, Betty Jo and Henry Coleman; and stepmother, Alice Moser Steorts, all of Salt Lake City; sister, Jeanette Falkenrath (Jack), also Salt Lake City; brothers, Brad Steorts (Carillon) and Jim Steorts (Kim), Billings, Montana (formerly SLC); wonderful in-laws, Ken and Marge Parks, Billings, Montana; and numerous appreciated nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her father, Bob Steorts (SLC) in 1992.

Final arrangements were handled by Wier Family Mortuary, Roundup, Montana. A private service has been held at the family ranch. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Northern Rockies Cancer Center in Billings, Montana.

JoAnne, our beloved wife, sister, daughter, mother, grandmother and friend -- we will love and miss you always, but we find peace in knowing you will never hurt again and that you will always be our Guardian Angel.
