In Memory of Judy Burningham

I can't let this chance go by with out remembering my good friend "Jew'd"...
Judy moved in next door to me the summer before 10th grade. I immediately liked her. She was adventurous, spontaneous and brave, all the things I was not.
Our first summer together Judy suggested we have a sleep over in my backyard. Telling me to bring my sleeping bag and two pillows. I later found out the two pillows were to be stuffed down our sleeping bags so if my parents checked on us they would not realize that we had snuck out. I had never experienced a sleepover before and didn't know if my parents would approve much to my surprise they agreed. Big let down, we just walked around the neighborhood and I was a nervous wreck !! I realized that night, having Judy in my life would move me up on the adventure scale.
After high school Judy left for Utah State and was kicked out after two quarters.
I lost track of her for abut 20 years but her Mom would keep me posted on her many life experiences mainly in California.
She had one daughter, that she cherished.
She ran a food truck back in the days when it wasn't as popular as it is now, She would drive it around to businesses and sell them lunch. One of her stops was a trucking company where she met her future husband.Tom was a long haul trucker and Judy being the quirky and courageous person that she was decided to acquire her long haul license and join her husband driving their 16 wheeler all over the country together, this time period was probably Judy's happiest.
Judy and Tom retired and bought a home in Harrisville, Nevada, near Mesquite.
She lived there until she passed away around 2009.
I miss my good friend, Shannon Caldwell

I remember Judy B. and reconnected (spent time talking) with her at the 40th reunion at Skyline's courtyard.  I was impressed that she was a trucker (adventurous).  She did something that I thought would be a fun thing to try, probably never will.  Sorry to hear of her passing in 2009.  Thanks for sharing about our classmates.  Dana Sheppard Richmond
