Obituary: LATHAM, KRISTINE

Kristine Keddington Latham1947 ~ 2012OREM, UTAHKristine Keddington Latham passed away after successfully completing her time on Earth as a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She passed away with her children close by and her husband by her side.Kris was born on December 17, 1947 to Alvin Burt Keddington and Patricia McKendrick Keddington in Salt Lake City, UT. She was a graduate of Skyline High School, and attended the University of Utah and Brigham Young University. She earned an Associate Degree at Utah Valley University. While she briefly worked outside the home at times, she devoted her time and energy at being a dedicated wife and mother to her family.Kris served an LDS mission in the Western State Mission. After returning home she married Allan R. Latham in the LDS Salt Lake Temple on May 19, 1972. She and Allan first lived in southern California where their sons, Jared and Michael were born. After moving to Utah, David and Patti were born. Kris and Allan served a mission together to the Illinois Nauvoo Mission. This experience was a highlight in her life. After her return home, she then organized a team of returned Nauvoo missionaries to organize and catalog boxes and boxes of unorganized documents that had been sent from Nauvoo over the years. She did this while serving again as a missionary at the Church History Department. She and Allan were asked to serve as the Directors of the Provo Transient Service Office, but because of failing health, she was not able to accept.Kris was a good listener and a patient worker of miracles. While pestered with ill health much of her life, she never complained. She was always willing and anxious to serve others both in her formal callings in church and at any occasion that presented itself. She was an excellent example of how to live a Christ-like life. We all love her dearly, will miss her terribly, but look forward with faith to being with her again.Kris' parents and older brother, Michael Keddington preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband, Allan Latham; sons, Jared, Michael and David Latham; daughter Patricia Jean Johnston; their wonderful spouses; and 13 beautiful grandchildren.A viewing will be held on November 30, 2012 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary, 495 S. State St., Orem, Utah. Another viewing will be held on December 1, 2012 from 11:30 to 12:30 p.m. at the LDS chapel located at 500 S. 600 W., Orem, Utah. Kris and I were sort of related.  Her older brother married my oldest sister.  I enjoyed staying in touch with her after high school.  My sister Kathy (class of 65) married Stan Skidmore (class of 65).  Stan died shortly before Kris died.  My sister Kathy went to Kristine's funeral and met Kris's husband Alan Latham.  A few months after the funeral Alan asked my sister out.  Later that year they decided to get married.  I was serving as a bishop and received permission to perform the ceremony.  Yes - I married my sister!  Alan and Kathy are currently serving a mission in Manchester England.
