Shauna Derrick (Faber)

Shauna Derrick Faber

1948 - 2023

Shauna Derrick Faber, 74, passed away on April 24, 2023 with her family by her side. Born in Salt Lake City, Utah to George Ralph Derrick and Shirley Natter Derrick.

Shauna graduated from Skyline High School in 1966 and attended the University of Utah to pursue a degree in Sociology.

Shauna met the love of her life Grant “Buck” Faber in 1967 and they were married June 14, 1969. A marriage that lasted 54 incredible years.

Shauna and Buck started their family in 1975 with the birth of their daughter Alisa. Their family of four was completed with the birth of their son Andrew in 1979.

Shauna was a mom’s mom. Raising her children was the most amazing time of her life, making sure they were loved, safe, warm, and not hungry. She would sing her favorite Johnny Mathis songs to them while giving them their morning baths. Shauna always put the needs of her children and family before her own, making sure everything was just right for piano recitals, concerts, soccer games, vacation trips, Snowbird, or the barbeque in the backyard.

Shauna worked for Skaggs Drug Centers as an Administrative Assistant for several years before starting her family. She then worked for Hewlett Packard as an Executive Assistant retiring in 2005 after 18 years.

Shauna struggled with Alzheimer’s for many years. Her incredible strength battling this demon was shown daily by her simply saying “It’s Ok”.

Those of us who had the privilege to know Shauna, know what unconditional love feels like. Always the consummate elegant lady, giving herself to help those around her.

She is physically gone from us now, but we know in our hearts she is with loved ones who left before her. She took her father’s hand and went for their walk in the park.

Shauna is survived by her husband G.L. “Buck” Faber; daughter Alisa (Dan) Hansgen, son Andrew Faber brother Brad Derrick, sister Suzanne Johnson; granddaughter Olivia Hansgen, and grandson Cole Hansgen.

Our thanks to Monique, BJ Evans, and the entire staff at The Peaks Alzheimer’s Care Facility for taking care of Shauna with so much love and respect. To Lisa and the staff at Harmony Hospice for your love and support in Shauna’s final days. Special thanks to Pam Cyr for her love, respect, and support helping care for Shauna.
