Karrie Lynn Hummel

1948 - 2015 Obituary

Karrie Lynn Hummel was released from this life March 29, 2015 after struggling through many health maladies.
She was born June 9, 1948 in Fairbury, Illinois to Kenneth Henry and Darlene Delta Johnson Hummel. Her childhood was spent on the farm in Illinois until age 13 when the family moved to Salt Lake. She attended Skyline High, Utah State University, and Utah Technical College and worked as a phone operator at Holy Cross Hospital, then as a legal secretary for Northwest Pipeline/Williams Co.
Karrie had many interests and could learn and do anything. Her wit, humor, and intellect were keen. A loving and giving soul, she loved helping others. She loved family history work, reading, black and white, cats, lambs, mac 'n cheese, and wearing flashy boas. A talented crafter extraordinaire--beading, knitting, crocheting, weaving, sewing, cross stitching, tatting, painting-- everything she made looked professional. She made yearly Christmas ornaments for her nieces/nephews. Karrie studied different religions and cultures, and had a special love of the Native American culture. She attended Pow-Wow's, learned to weave, and collected art and décor for her home.
She is survived by her sisters Pam Ellington and Shanna Bedell, brothers Kent (Rosie) and Jeff (Teri) Hummel, a daughter, Angie Boumann, and three grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, April 11, 2015 at 11:30 a.m. at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park, 3401 South Highland Drive, where friends and family are welcome to come and celebrate her life.
