Dennis Evan Jones

February 24, 1948 - October 29, 2025

Dennis Evan Jones was born February 24th, 1948, in Billings, Montana to Horace Evan “Mike” Jones and Charlestine “Chris” Overland Jones. He grew up in Billings, MT, Salt Lake City, UT, and Carson City, NV. He would often visit Mississippi where his mother grew up.

He attended college at UNR and eventually earned a master’s degree from Utah State University in Mechanical Engineering. He worked for several solar design companies before starting his own business E5Elements where he focused on solar design, energy saving retrofitting, and alternative energy use. He was deeply committed to his work and took pride in contributing to a more sustainable future.

He met the love of his life, Judy Tilly in Denver, Colorado, and they were wed in 1981. Dennis had two sons with Judy and was a loving father to her son Gerald. Like his father before him, Dennis was an Eagle Scout and helped both of his sons attain the rank by serving as a Scoutmaster for their troop.

He found the most happiness spending time with his family outdoors. He loved camping, being on the river, skiing and snowboarding. He loved to travel and see as much of the world as he could. He took his family to China, Egypt, Turkey, Peru, Canada, Europe and all over the USA. He valued adventure, knowledge, and the beauty of the natural world.

He passed peacefully on October 29th, 2025, and is survived by his wife Judy Jones, siblings Duane Jones and Laura Aust, sons Gerald Olson, Dylan and Evan, and grandson Sebastian. He will be deeply missed and forever cherished by his family and friends. Please remember Dennis by spending time with your loved ones and raising a glass in his honor.
