Caren Self Daniels Rohr Kapteyn
September 15, 1947 – March 8, 2018
Caren was born on September 15, 1947 to Wayne J. and Lila Marie Kilbourn Self.
The Self family lived in Salt Lake City, and Caren attended schools in Granite School District, graduating in 1966 from Skyline High School. Caren became a dietician following high school. She especially enjoyed helping those in nursing homes with their nutrition.
In 1968, Caren married Randy E. Daniels, later divorced. In 1979, she married Timothy Kirk Rohr. She and Timothy became the parents of Michael Rohr. Caren and Timothy were later divorced, and Caren married Jack Kapteyne, who helped her raise her son, Michael. Caren and Jack were also foster parents to many children during the course of their marriage.
Caren was living in the Avalon Nursing Home, when she passed away on March 8, 2018. She was known as someone who tried to help all the other residents of Avalon with their problems. Caren will be remembered as someone with a heart big enough to love everyone.
Caren was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her son, Michael Rohr, and her two grandchildren, Desiree and Nick Rohr. She is also survivied by her former husband, Jack Kapteyne, as well as her siblings: Claudia Self-Trayner; Collette Self-Logan; Camille Self; Curtis Self; Craig Self; and Cary Self.
Caren was cremated, and her ashes remain with her dear granddaughter, Desiree, who resides in Arkansas.
