Virginia “Jenny” Lynne Turner

December 8, 1948 – June 28, 2021

Jenny was born December 8, 1948 in Baldwin City, Kansas to Virginia Hollis Barnett Turner and Frank Benjamin Turner.  She was the eldest child, but would soon greet twin brothers, Frank, Jr. and John to complete the Turner family.

Jenny attended school in Granite School District, graduating from Skyline High School in 1966.

She Married Thomas Leon Jarmon June 28, 1969 in Layton, UT.  They became the parents of Barbara Lynne Jarmon.

In 1975 tragedy struck.  Jenny’s husband, Tom, who had been a teacher in Wyoming and Utah, passed away suddenly.  Jenny became a widow at age 27, and a single parent of their daughter, Barbara Lynne.

Jenny resumed life in Salt Lake City, where she met local singer and guitarist, Wayne Carper, in 1991.  They were married in 2001.  Wayne had a successful song writing and performing career until he suffered tonsil cancer.  That put a temporary end to Wayne’s career.  He quit performing publicly, and would sing only for Jenny.  Wayne and Jenny moved to St. George, where Jenny developed breast cancer, and died on June 28, 2021, after having a double mastectomy.  Wayne said, “I tell people that I was awfully lucky she loved me.  I loved her, too, but she was way better at it than I was.  She was my best friend.”

Jenny leaves behind: her husband, Wayne; her daughter Barbara Lynne Turner Smolka, and family; and her brothers, Frank Benjamin Turner, Jr., and John Barrett Turner, and their families.  She was preceded in death by her parents and first husband, Tom Jarmon.
