Mark Phillip Edmunds

November 3, 1947 – January 27, 2025

Mark was born November 3, 1947 in Salt Lake City to Phillip Claybourne Edmunds and Bertha Mae Jensen Edmunds.

Mark grew up in Salt Lake City, attending schools in Granite School District.  He graduated from Skyline High School in 1966.

Mark served his country as part of the U.S. Army.

Mark furthered his education, earning graduate and post graduate degrees.  He was an adjunct professor at the University of Texas, and a professor at Vattercott College, where he was an IT instructor. 

Mark saw humor in life.  His self-effacing humor was displayed in his description of himself as a senior, “Spent most of Senior Year as part of a group of ‘weirdos’ who played rock 'n' roll records in a corner of the courtyard during lunchtime. A curious coincidence, we all turned into hippies!”  He also displayed his humor on his Facebook page, “Occupy Silliness.”

Mark married Elaine K. Huggins in 1967.  They became the parents of Mark Kelly Edmunds (b.1968) and Josef Dylon Edmunds (b.1970).  Mark and Elaine later divorced.  Mark married again and became the father to Kavosha Marie (b. 1992) and Gabriella Rose (b.1996).

Mark became an amputee due to complications from diabetes, but he adapted and moved forward. He reconnected with his dear high school friend, Connie Green, before he passed away.  Connie recounted the last time she encountered Mark, “He came to visit me in Hawaii in 2025, and we talked over lunch.  His daughter informed me of his death a few weeks after we met on the Big Island.  He wanted to move to Hawaii, but died before he could do that.   His health was failing and he was confined to a wheelchair, but he bravely soldiered on.”

Mark passed away January 27, 2025 in Springfield, Missouri, which had been his home for many years.  He was loved and will be missed by his family and many friends.
