In Memory

Lynn Rasmussen

Darrell “Lynn” Rasmussen

Sept. 14, 1948 - Nov. 2, 2024

Lynn fought a lot of health battles in his life, but he was no match for a brain tumor. Lynn died at home in Santa Clara, Utah with his wife and dog at his side. Lynn was born in Salt Lake City and lived there until his late 20’s when his love for adventure and restaurants kicked in.

He lived and worked throughout the west. In 1991, when Lynn had enough of being on the road and the corporate world, he and Patti began Salt Lake Pizza and Pasta in 1992, Fiddler’s Elbow in 1996 and finally Tin Roof Grill in 2008. And through most of those years Lynn was working in real estate, no idle hands for Lynn.

Moving to Southern Utah in 2017 meant finding new things to do, new friends and like-minded foodies. Lynn became the “cook” for many neighborhood gatherings.

Lynn is survived by his brother Al, son David, daughter Whitnie, 6 fantastic grandchildren, 3 amazing great grandchildren, and his wife, partner in adventure and mischief, Patti. Preceded in death by his daughter Ashlie Merea Rasmussen Chacon.

Lynn received amazing care after his diagnosis from the medical professionals at St. George Regional Hospital and the St. George Cancer Center. The hospice team from Integrated Senior Care cared for Lynn with such compassion and caring, helping him maintain his dignity, and gave him quality of life and comfort in his last days.

We hope we said thank you enough to these extraordinary people, and they know how grateful we are to each of them.

Lynn loved good food, great wine, fine bourbon but he took joy in sharing those things with people he cared about. To Lynn, food was love and he loved sharing it. A gathering to honor Lynn will be held at a later date.

Family and friends are invited to share tributes online. Arrangements and memorial tree planting by Serenity Funeral Home of Southern Utah, 435-986-9100.
